Clay sand, a critical component in molding sand with clay serving as the binder, plays a pivotal role in the sand treatment department—an essential segment of any foundry. Its primary mission is to supply the molding and core-making division with molding sand of the highest quality. The preparation of molding sand significantly influences casting production quality, output efficiency, and cost reduction. Given the intricate nature of the sand treatment process, the workload involved in handling and transporting clay sand is substantial, and the working conditions can be challenging. Thus, the mechanization of the sand treatment process emerges as a crucial aspect of casting production.

The green sand production line process utilizes clay sand as a modeling (core) material with clay acting as a binder. The mechanization of sand recovery is vital for enhancing foundry production. The quality of castings is directly influenced by the quality of reclaimed casting sand post-pouring, impacting both production output and cost efficiency. Due to the complex processes involved in recycling and treating used sand, managing and transporting green sand is a significant and challenging task. The mechanized sand recycling and treatment process stands as a cornerstone of foundry production. Post-pouring and cooling, sand molds are separated using a vibrating shakeout machine, completing the essential separation phase. Hot castings progress to the shot blasting area via a scale conveyor. The shakeout machine's sand outlet features a belt conveyor, transporting the old sand to the regeneration area. A suspended magnetic separator and a belt conveyor are strategically positioned to extract iron particles, while dust is removed through designated ports. Screened old sand is directed to a small sand silo, cooled by a boiling cooling bed, and vertically elevated by a 2# bucket elevator to the sand silo for storage. The unloader efficiently allocates the old sand to various sand bins, complemented by a vibrating disc feeder at the bottom. The old sand is conveyed to the rotor sand mixer's storage hopper, where coal powder and bentonite are introduced through an auxiliary electronic scale via a screw feeder. This is followed by precise proportioning and mixing in the rotor sand mixer. Finally, the sand is processed by a loosening machine and conveyed to the molding machine, ready for a new cycle of usage.
