Clay sand acts as the essential molding sand, using clay as a binder. The sand treatment department emerges as a pivotal segment within the foundry realm. Its primary mission is to furnish the molding core-making department with suitably qualified molding sand. The preparation of this sand plays a crucial role in casting production quality, enhancing output, and trimming down costs. Given the intricate sand treatment procedures, the workload associated with clay sand handling and transportation is substantial, and the environmental conditions are challenging. Therefore, the mechanization of the sand treatment process becomes a vital aspect of casting production.

Green sand production line process: Clay sand serves as modeling (core) sand bonded by clay. Mechanizing this sand recycling process is a cornerstone of foundry production. The quality of casting sand recovered post-pouring significantly influences casting production quality, output, and cost efficiency. Given the complex recycling and treatment of used sand, handling and transporting green sand is demanding, compounded by harsh environmental conditions. Thus, mechanization of sand recycling and treatment is essential. After pouring and cooling, sand molds are separated using a vibrating shakeout machine, completing the casting sand separation. Hot castings are then conveyed to the shot blasting area via a scale conveyor. The shakeout machine’s sand outlet features a belt conveyor transporting old sand to the regeneration area. A suspended magnetic separator and belt conveyor intersect to eliminate iron beans from the old sand. Dust is extracted through a removal port, and screened old sand is funneled into a small sand silo. The boiling cooling bed cools the old sand, which is vertically elevated by the 2# bucket elevator for storage. The unloader distributes old sand across the 2# and 3# sand bins, each equipped with a vibrating disc feeder at the base. Old sand descends onto a belt conveyor, directed to the rotor sand mixer’s storage hopper. Coal powder and bentonite are introduced via an auxiliary electronic scale through the screw feeder, entering the rotor sand mixer for uniform mixing. Post-processing in the sand loosening machine, it is dispatched to the molding machine for subsequent molding cycles.
